Teddy Wyatt, Managing Director. Wyatt has over 19 years of executive and technical leadership experience developing and producing electronics and embedded software for communications and aerospace application. Most recently, he has led development efforts for IP products based on network processors and off-the-shelf protocol stacks, including routers, VoIP gateways, and terminal servers. Wyatt is co-founder and Managing Director of Brushfire Technologies where his contributions include product requirements definition and conceptual design. Before founding Brushfire Technologies, Wyatt was Vice-President of Engineering for Carrier Access Corporation. He was the exec¬utive sponsor for the Adit 3000 product development effort, guiding requirements definition and full-scale development. Wyatt led the Carrier Access engineering teams located in Boulder, Tulsa, and Roanoke. Prior to his promotion to Vice President, Wyatt was Director of Engineering at Carrier Access' Tulsa Research and Development Center and was responsible for development engineering for the Adit 600 and Axxius 800 products. Previously, Wyatt managed avi¬onics and aerospace systems development at Frontier Engineering in Stillwater, Oklahoma for over 10 years. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Wyatt is a Senior Member of the IEEE and is Chairman of the Tulsa Section.
Dennis Gatens, Director of Sales and Marketing. Gatens was Vice-President of the Converged Access Business Unit with Carrier Access Corporation where was responsible for product management, marketing and engineering responsibilities for the converged access product line and solutions. The converged access product line is a portfolio of solutions that provide integrated gateway, router and security features for enterprise network deployments. Prior to joining Carrier Access, Mr. Gatens held the position of Product Management Director at Texas Instrument’s Telogy Division, where he was responsible for VoDSL, Gateway, and central office applications of packet voice software-on-silicon solutions. Mr. Gatens has also held positions at Pulsecom Inc and FiberCom Inc., where his responsibilities ranged from engineer to product development manager for networking and high speed remote access solutions. Mr. Gatens has over 20 years experience in the communications industry. He has been published in a number of industry periodicals and has spoken at numerous industry events. He holds a BSEE from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Radford University.
Peter Som de Cerff, Principal Investigator. Som de Cerff is co-founder of Brushfire Technologies. For the past five years, in a range of roles including Engineering Project Manager, Senior Systems Engineer, and Director of Systems Engineering he has guided the architecture and coordinated the design of mass-produced, modular, low-cost, multi-protocol voice and data networking equipment for Carrier Access Corporation and Adtran Corporation. Work has included industry-leading Ethernet DSLAMs, multi-service delivery, and voice over IP solutions with managed QoS. Prior to that, Som de Cerff spent 8 years designing and developing hardened, fully redundant telecom equipment for outside-plant, wide-thermal range, lightning-exposed applications in the digital loop-carrier industry at Seiscor Technologies and Pulse Communications. He also spent three years as a Development Engineer and Project Manager at Frontier Engineering developing digital equipment for range systems and NASA applications. Som de Cerff has significant experience across the full lifecycle of development, from product concept development through full-scale production. Som de Cerff has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University.
Al Childress, Principal Software Engineer. Childress is co-founder of Brushfire Technologies and serves as Principal Software Engineer. Previously, Childress served as Principal Engineer for Carrier Access in the voice-over-IP gateway and router development group, providing company-wide guidance on protocol selections and implementation. Prior to his promotion to Principal Engineer, Childress held positions of Software Engineer and Technical Lead Engineer at Carrier Access Corp. While at Carrier Access, Childress led the software engineering effort to bring to market three separate products: the Adit 600 IP Router, the Adit 600 Customer Media Gateway, and the Adit 3402 Multi-service Access Router. His prior experience includes developing SCADA systems for Michelin North America. Mr. Childress has over 25 years of experience in the telecommunications, automotive and entertainment industries. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Texas at Arlington.
